The Reverend Marc Burnette, Chaplain & Rector

reverend marc

The Rev. Marc Burnette joined us as Chaplain & Rector in July of 2009. Marc came to us from St. Andrew's Episcopal in Birmingha, where he began his ministry in 2001. Before St. Andrew's Marc was Curate for Trinity Church in Florence, AL.

Marc was ordained into the priesthood in November, 1999 and attended the General Theological Seminary in New York City. Before entering into Seminary, Marc studied here, at the University of Alabama, majoring in Psychology and then marc and family earning an MFA in Creative Writing. Genevieve, the Parish Administrator, is glad to have another Liberal Arts major around the office!

Marc's wife, Jennifer Roth-Burnette, works at the University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies in the new Early Education program the University has to help highschool students earn college credit while still enrolled in high school. This new program also lends incoming freshmen a hand with online class help, peer mentoring, and guidance through their first year of college.

Marc and Jennifer have two children, Eve who just turned three, and Isaac who is eight. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful, inspiring family here at Canterbury.

Genevieve Turkett -- Parish Administrator

parish administrator

Genevieve Turkett joined the staff of Canterbury Chapel just after graduating in May 2009 with a degree in English and Visual Art. Having spent her college years at Canterbury as her home church, she was delighted to come on as a staff member and has loved every minute ever since. In addition to being the church secretary and administrator, Genevieve is the webmaster for this website, and finds it difficult to write about herself in the third person.

Genevieve can not imagine being in a more wonderful, loving, and blessed place than Canterbury, and is happy every day to work with the students and parishoners of such a great church. If you have any questions about Canterbury or how to get involved, she's the gal to talk to. Call the office at 345-9590 any time you want to talk.
