Do I have to be Episcopal to come to Canterbury?

Not at all! We are an Episcopal church, part of the Diocese of Alabama, but our doors are open to you no matter your faith background or denomination. We emphasize here that at Canterbury, ALL are welcome, and ALL are invited. If you want more information about the Episcopal church, check out http://www.episcopalchurch.org/index.htm. Or just come ask!

Do I have to go to church on Sunday morning? That's really early.

I agree. Sunday mornings we do have two services at 8:00am and 10:30am, but if you don't call yourself an early bird, don't fret. There is a 12:30 Service on Tuesdays, and there is a 6:00pm service every Sunday night with free dinner served afterward. Every Wednesday night there is a discussion group called Chaplain's Class that meets at 9:00pm in the Student Center. We talk about everything from school and stress to faith and good works. We always want to heart new topics going on in your life! After Chaplain's class there is a short Eucharist starting at 10:00pm. You'll have plenty of time to cram for that History test afterward, you know you weren't going to start studying till then anyway.

What is the Student Center like?

It's like Disney World, but with air conditioning! Ok, it's not really like that at all, but it's a very nice space with plenty of couches, free WiFi, a television with cable & a DVD player, and a coffee machine. The doors are open until 10:00pm every night, and there is a study room with a nice table and chairs for group sessions or to study late at night. During the day there is a printer available in the church office, as long as you don't need to print a novel. Also on Wednesdays starting in September, we will have student lunch at 12:15 in the student center, free for all! So yeah, it's not Disney World, but it is air conditioned and there are no people dressed up like cartoon characters.

Do you make coffee every morning that I can get on my way to class?

Yes. You're welcome.

I want to get more involved and share ideas and plan events! Who can I talk to?

The Canterbury Student Forum is a student organization registered with the University of Alabama, and if you are part of the student community at Canterbury, well, you are in the Student Forum too. We are always looking for new friends to help us plan events, get on campus, and grow our student family here at Canterbury. If you're interested, you can email Genevieve, the Parish Administrator, at canterburychapel@gmail.com, or come see her in the office during the day.

At Canterbury, we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ at the University of Alabama and in the wider community.

And we want you to be a part of it.
